You know when you have something so important to say, that it's hard to find the right words to say it? That's where I've been for the past 10 days....
We've had a busy couple of weeks. Two weeks ago, my husband and I went with friends to see the Backstreet Boys concert in town. And yesterday, I did The Color Run, while my sweet husband worked for 10 hours helping to run the event so I could do it.
That's love. I've been thinking about what love looks like ever since he sat next to me that hot summer night at the concert. My only request was that I get to go, and buy as good a tickets as I could. His response, "That's fine, but I'm going too, because I want to see you at this."
We went to the concert with a pair of great, great friends. As I screamed and danced around in our seats with my friend, I turned and caught the love of my life watching me with the most precious smile on his face. And all I could see in his smile was love.
There aren't too many men who willingly pay for their wife to see her favorite band from childhood and pre-teen years. There are even fewer who will happily tag along for the night. And I can count on one hand the number of guys who weren't complaining about being in that arena. He may have teased, and imitated my cheering, but that was funny enough that I didn't mind. :-)
Sometimes, it's the little things like that that make a marriage. Experiences like that are what make a life. And those realizations leave me remembering how lucky I am to do life together with the man of my dreams. Each day is something special, and it wouldn't be near the same without him by my side.
