{2014 Olympics} I'm getting excited...

It's almost time for one of our favorite events. We are going to blink, and the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics are going to be here!

Are you a fan of the Olympics? Winter? Summer? Both? While I know more about events that are in the Summer Olympics, I find the Winter Olympics absolutely fascinating because it is all of the things I don't know. I didn't grow up ice skating or even knowing what curling was - unless you were talking about hair!

I'm most excited about all of the ice skating. It's so fun to watch. I watched the US Championships in Boston on TV a few weeks ago, and oh, it was so fun to get to know the stars of this upcoming Olympics. The drama. The intrigue... it's so fun!

I mean, who remembers what the big story was 20 years ago at the Olympics? Does this ring a bell?

I loved this story about the anniversary. I was a little girl when I watched Nancy Kerrigan, and remember staying up to watch those opening ceremonies on the pull-out couch in the play room at my parents' house. It is one of the first memories I have of the Olympics!

Are you excited for Feb. 7 and the Sochi Games to arrive? How much time will you spend watching? We'll try to watch everything we can, that's for sure.

As the adorable mittens I bought my husband say, "GO! USA!"

Sizzlin' Summer TV

There is something about summer. Vacations, tons of hot weather, pool days.... And for me? Summer tv time. I love it, and this summer seems even better than normal.

See what I'm talking about?

Also, I have an obsession with USA Network shows (like Covert Affairs and Suits). They are just outstanding, and the dual-seasons USA Network runs means that when a lot of networks don't have fun and new programming, you've still got some incredible shows.

Do you watch any of these? What are your favorite shows? Tell me more!

XOXO,
Mrs. Jones

It's a Smash...

Well, friends, one of my favorite shows ever is coming back.

Smash kicks off its second season on NBC on Feb. 5, and I can't wait. Did any of y'all watch the first season? It was very addictive, given my love of Broadway and great music. It featured Katherine McPhee, and she was fabulous as Karen Cartwright. Megan Hilty was featured as Karen's big-time competition, Ivy Lynn. I loved watching them play off each other. And the CD that went with season one? It was great too. I promise.

This season, Jennifer Hudson is joining the cast, and I love her voice and her acting, so that's even better!

What mid-season shows are you looking forward to watching? Anything I need to add to my DVR this winter?

It's that time...

So, it's that time of year that all of us love - TV premier week, part 2!!!

I'm rejoicing for sure. Mr. Jones and I have a lot of fun curling up and relaxing - and with a DVR that can record up to two shows at once, we can record a lot and catch up later. :-) Like, on weekends and slow nights.

Here's what our DVR schedule looks like for this season:

Sunday

8 p.m. - The Good Wife (CBS)
8 p.m. - Desperate Housewives (ABC)
9 p.m. - Pan Am (ABC)

Monday
7 p.m. - The Sing-Off (NBC)
7 p.m. - Gossip Girl (CW)
8 p.m. - Hart of Dixie (CW) ???
9 p.m. - The Playboy Club (NBC) ???

Tuesday
7 p.m. - NCIS (CBS)
7 p.m. - Glee (Fox)
8 p.m. - NCIS: LA (CBS)

Wednesday
7 p.m. - Survivor: South Pacific (CBS)
9 p.m. - Law and Order: SVU (NBC)

Thursday
8 p.m. - Grey's Anatomy (ABC)
9 p.m. - Private Practice (ABC)

I'm excited! I'm debating on the Hart of Dixie and Playboy Club shows. Maybe I'll watch the pilots and see what I think. What am I missing? What do you love?

XOXO and happy viewing!

Miss America and random ramblings...

So, I'm a few days late.....

I was such a fan of Miss Delaware. Until she ripped off the Center Stage signature dance. That is not cool with me! Red toe shoes and all! Plus, she kind of stumbled. That was a little disappointing.

Miss Virginia was another favorite. Talk about Riverdance!!!

I still can't believe that Miss America is only 17 - talk about a life changing moment. I loved her talent dress, thought her hair looked a little poufy with her swimsuit and was kind of iffy on her gown.

What joy though! I loved her reaction and loved how she pointed to heaven to thank God. Sweet gesture. There were some horrible evening gowns that evening though. Miss New York and that black silver gown?!?! Ugh! I was surprised at the number of white gowns, especially among finalists. What did you guys think? I know quite a few people have blogged already....

By far my favorite moment of Miss America though? The 30 minute phone recap my mother-in-law and I had! :-) Now, that was fun!

It's the middle of a long week. I have so much to share! But work deadlines are looming, so I'll be back soon!

XOXO,
Mrs. Jones
