Okay y'all....
It pains me to say this.... I put off writing it, because I struggled to finish it.
I did not love Jodi Picoult's "Between the Lines." I think it was my least favorite of hers I've read.
I'm not going to go into the questions, because I don't want to give things away, but I will tell you what I've been thinking about it.
I think what it came down to was two things:
1) It wasn't just Jodi Picoult's writing. It was her daughter's too, and her daughter created the story.
2) I can't STAND books where the viewpoint changes from chapter to chapter. I opened this book, saw that writing style, and groaned. It kills me every time.
I do love Cole's question #4 though: "If you could ask the author a question, what would you ask?" Hmm.... I think I'd love to know so many things. Which book she's written is her favorite. How stories form in her head. What her writing process is like.
She's such a different writer than so many I read, and while I didn't love this book, I love almost everything else she has written. As a writer (no, nothing as long as a book!), I love to learn more about other writer's processes, and how they work through lulls and long-term projects.... It fascinates me.
Have you read "Between the Lines?" What did you think? Link up with Cole and me!
XOXO,
Mrs. Jones
It killed me to give a less than stellar review too.
